This past Friday my MFA thesis show came down. Pending a graduation ceremony, I am officially a Master of Fine Art! It was really great seeing so many people come out to the show and hearing all of their feedback. The work was given overwhelming enthusiasm for both the installation and the work itself. *Phew!*I will add more photos of the exhibition soon, but for now here are a couple previews. I plan on touring this show in the coming months, so look out for information on shows in your neighboring cities. *NEWSFLASH – To all of my Texas friends: If you’re traveling through the Houston area around June, I will have one of these pieces in the first annual PrintHouston: NEXT exhibition at the 4411 Montrose Gallery. You should stop by!*
I dedicate this show to my friends & family and all their relentless encouragement. I would especially like to thank my parents, Dianne and Alvaro Benavides. Their support, steadfast love, and dedication to work ethic are all things I strive to achieve everyday. I would like to thank my faculty committee, Derrick Buisch, Fred Stonehouse, Jack Damer, and John Hitchcock, for their support, honesty, and critical feedback. I would like to thank Greg Luckeroth, Bruce Crownover, Andy Rubin, and all of Tandem Press Staff for their support in printing this project. I would also like to thank Sally Kronsnoble for her assistance in the hanging of the show. And, finally I would like to thank the University of Wisconsin’s Graduate Department for believing I had what it takes to attend such a prestigious university. Without the Ed-GRS Fellowship I would have never made it this far.
So, what next? … I’m working on gathering funds for the impending residency in Venice, Italy and my move to Philadelphia, PA. More information on these projects coming soon!
